Meet Founders - Sean and David

  • Sean Seeliger

    FOUNDER

Sean started his long-term career in IT whilst working for Crown Casino as a croupier. IT had always been an itch he needed to scratch as his mum was regarded as the first female Programmer in Australia and it was a direction he was destined to go down. Using the people skills he built up working in Crown in the VIP gaming area and his accountancy from Swinburne, he landed many programming jobs in companies such as Crown,  GE, NAB, ANZ, Origin Energy and AEMO.

When COVID hit he decided his life needed a new direction and it was after a late-night conversation with his father about young people and their lack of knowledge of many generations past that I gave David a call and asked him what he thought about recording peoples life’s tales. He loved it and so a business was born.

Sean has used his time to learn all he can about film light and sound, how to get the most out of each interview which isn’t as easy as it sounds. Working out Business process for all business ideas has been fun challenging and satisfying as we want our product to be a seamless experience no matter which product our customers purchase. Sean believes the logistics will be tough when we start up, but the reward of seeing the end product coupled with our client’s reaction is going to be life changing.

Sean has already pinched himself being able to listen to some amazing stories, with Leading political figures such as Hitler and President Marcos to Movie stars like Rock Hudson all being mentioned in the craziest stories so far. It’s just so hard to believe that families may have no idea of their links to history.

Personally, Sean has a love and passion for AFL, Water sports, car racing and dirt bikes all of which he enjoys whilst hanging out with his two teenage sons who seem to have the same loves as he does.

Sean and David both agree that My Words My Tale bookings, are without doubt the most enjoyable and most satisfying work that that they’ve ever completed.

Every story is different and some of the stories that they record are well and truly worthy of film production. Most importantly though, these stories are kept for their closest friends, children, grandchildren, and for future generations.

  • David Wilson

    FOUNDER

David initially entered the photography / videography field by studying at the International College of Professional Photography.

I can barely explain how much I enjoyed these classes, I was always easily distracted as a student, often getting bored, but this certainly wasn’t the case here.

I didn’t realize it happening, but due to being so engrossed in the information I was learning, I would regularly find myself perched right on the front edge of my seat, leaning forward so I could soak up every word.

Then I’d laugh to myself thinking, I’ve just done it again!

It was soon after completion of the photography course that I excitingly found myself with my first wedding booking, this was the first of approximately 250-300 weddings that I photographed.

I loved the fact that every wedding was unique, different personalities to work with, different venues, different time schedules, different lighting, and different numbers in attendance.

In addition to the weddings, I soon started photographing hotels for their websites & brochures. I greatly enjoyed shooting the varied locations and architecture.

Other fields of photography that I’ve worked in include family portraiture, corporate events and my favourite form of photography, landscape.

It was an amazing feeling to see your artwork up in a gallery and have customers fall in love with your work and purchase it for their homes. Locations that have held my art include the Malmsbury Art Gallery and The Hotel Sofitel Melbourne.

As much as a I loved photography, it was moving into the field of videography where I gained the most enjoyment and satisfaction. I always loved reviewing the final product and seeing the story unfold, a story that I’ve helped keep alive, truthfully represented in film.

The main areas of videography that I’ve worked in include weddings and school interviews. The school interviews were just like school photos but in video format. Each student would be asked questions such as their favourite class, sport, film or band and if they have a pet etc. A fantastic keep-piece for themselves and their parents.

Luckily, I enjoy both the videography on the day and the post-production equally. Adding headings, transitions, photographs and music, to produce a smooth, high quality and professional product is… yes that word again, satisfying.

We look forward to keeping your legacy alive
